This video (using an example of the Jeddah-Makkah route) demonstrates how a high-speed dual rail system is able to carry up to 1.2 million passengers per day with a high level of comfort and safety. For this purpose 25-seat unibuses are combined at the terminal stations into trains to enable quick and simultaneous loading-unloading of 150 passengers.
The engine power of a high-speed (180 km/hour) passenger unibus is as little as 70 horsepower, fuel consumption for the high-speed travel is 0.3 liter per 100 passengers-km. With the total volume of 10 million passengers per year during 20 years, it will be possible to save up to 200,000 tons of fuel (USD 100 million) compared with using traditional buses.
